Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: ARRIVE KATHMANDU

Upon arrival meet and assist by Parikrama Treks representative. Transfer to the Hotel.

Day 02: Sightseeing and Tibet Visa Preparation

Today you will visit the cultural sites of Kathmandu. We will also submit your passport for our Chinese group visa. We will provide a short briefing about the Tibet Jeep Overland Tour.

Day 03:  DRIVE FROM KATHMANDU TO SYABRUBESI 2400 M (152 km / 7 hrs)

Early morning we leave our hotel to reach Syabrubensi. We will take our trail through the rough roads of Langtang National Park.

Day 04: DRIVE SYABRUBESI TO KERUNG 3700 M (60 km / 2 hrs)

We complete all the customs formalities on both sides (Nepal & Tibet China). We start driving to the small town of Kerung in Tibet.

Day 05: DRIVE KERUNG TO SHEGAR 4280m (340 km / 7 hrs)

Today we will cross over a few mountain passes. Kungthang la pass 5236m is one of the highest and you will bypass it.

Day 06: DRVE SHEGAR TO SHIGATSE 3950m (240km / 6 hrs)

Today Is a scenic drive from Shegar to Shigatse. Shigatse is the second largest city of Lhasa.

 Day 07: DRIVE SHIGATSE TO GYANTSE 3900m (90 km / 2 hrs)

Gyantse is a pastoral town and still retains the charm of a traditional Tibetan town. This town is still untouched by modern expansion.

Day 08: DRIVE GYANTSE TO LHASA 3,650m (350 km / 10 hrs) VIA LAKE YAMDROK

Today we set out of Gyantse for Nagartse (100kms) near Lake Yamdrok. We will also cross Simi La (4200 m) Karo La (5010 m) and ride to Nagartse. We will also explore Yamdrok Lake before riding further.

Day 09: LHASA SIGHTSEEING 3,650 m

There’s a lot to see and do in Lhasa. It’s one of the highest cities in the world at 3,650 meters. We visit the famous Potala Palace which is included in your package. Some say it’s the icon of Tibet, and over the years, it’s been home to 14 Dalai Lamas. You may also want to take a trip down to Barkhor Street and spend time at the Dreprung monastery. Or sample some of the many restaurants whilst chilling out with a cool beer.

Day 10: DRIVE LHASA TO SAKYA 4,025m (410 Km/ 9 hrs)

The route today is straight forward but scenic at the same time. We will ride along the Yarlung Tsangpo (Brahmaputra River).

Day 11: DRIVE SAKYA TO RONGBUK 5,100m (255 Km / 6hrs)

Today is what you’ve come for. We drive to one of the most famous places on the planet. We tackle a 5,200 metre high pass and endless switchbacks with more than 117 curves before riding up a wide and dry valley. We arrive in plenty of time to visit Everest Base Camp at an altitude of just over 17,000 feet. (5,200 metres) We have to dismount, leave our jeep securely parked and travel the remaining few kilometres to Visitor’s Base Camp by Electric bus transport. This is due to environmental issues and for the preservation of this sensitive area. The world’s highest mountain now looms majestically in front of you. We spend this afternoon and evening taking photographs and watching the sun go down over her peak. I can assure you that these moments will stay etched in your memory forever. The next time you’re at this altitude, you’ll be on your flight home..

Day 12:  EVEREST EXCURSION, DRIVE TO KERUNG (286 Km / 7 hrs)

It’s a chilly start to the day as we wake very early for a final view of Base Camp and to watch the sunrise over Mount Everest. Another high pass and back down towards the highway. We are now leaving the high altitude desert of the Tibetan Plateau behind and riding to our final night’s stay in Tibet at Gyirong..

Day 13: DRIVE KERUNG TO KATHMANDU (161 Km/ 7 hrs)

Complete Chinese Immigration and then cross the friendship bridge. We will change our jeep and take a drive back to Kathmandu. We’ll have our farewell celebration, a few drinks or two, maybe more, and reflect on the amazing adventure we have just completed.

Day 14 KATHMANDU REST DAY

Today is a day to relax or explore around the town for the final minute souvenir shopping.

Day 15: DEPARTURE
